We are currently waiting to hear whether our application to establish Kingston CofE Secondary School will be taken to interview stage. The DfE hope to provide feedback during the Summer term. We would like to thank you all for your ongoing support throughout the process and will be in contact should we hear any news or updates. Thank you for your patience.
A New Church of England Secondary School in the Kingston-upon-Thames area of south west London
An application to establish Kingston Church of England Secondary School, a new co-educational secondary school, will be submitted to the Department for Education (DfE) in early February 2019. The application will be submitted aligned to the DfE’s Voluntary-aided schools capital scheme. See: www.gov.uk/government/publications/voluntary-aided-schools-capital-scheme.
The school is being proposed by the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE), which has a demonstrable track record of giving parents more choice and diversity for a high-quality education with Christian values and strong pastoral care for their children. It will vitally help meet the growing need for additional high-quality secondary places in the Kingston-upon-Thames area and will also give local families additional choice of a high-quality education with Christian values and strong pastoral care for their children.
If our application is approved, Kingston Church of England Secondary School will be an inclusive, non-selective 11-16 CoE secondary school with 900 places.
Kingston Church of England Secondary School will be free to attend and will be highly inclusive, have a distinctive Christian character and will offer its students the opportunity to grow and develop within a broad and balanced curriculum framework under-pinned by Christian values.
The new school will be open to students from families of all faiths and no faith where everyone will be welcome and feel they belong. It will have excellent pastoral support within a caring high-expectation ethos and an emphasis on moral values.
Essentially, there is a clear need for a co-educational Church of England secondary school in the Kingston-upon-Thames area, and this new school will provide an excellent continuation of learning for children in the Church of England family of Southwark Diocesan Board of Education schools, as well as those families of other faiths – and no faith – who wish to see their children succeed in a safe and inclusive environment.
You can help make this school happen! The plans for Kingston Church of England Secondary School will only become a reality with the support of the Kingston-upon-Thames/South West London community. In our application to the Department for Education, we need to demonstrate the level of support for the school, particularly of parents with child(ren) due to start secondary school from September 2022.
